Below are details of how to register if you are looking for a PA and if you are a PA looking for work.

Contact details for the PA Noticeboard are here if you have any further questions.

How to register if you are looking for a PA

As an individual looking for a Personal Assistant to support you, you can register and create an advert on the PA Noticeboard.

You can register to look for a PA here.

In your advert, try to include as much information about the role and about you too. It’s important to give the PA an idea of what they’ll be doing and the person they’ll be supporting.

You are advised to request and check references from your PA and contact us to organise a DBS check once a job offer has been made and before they start working for you.

If you are employing a PA, you must also ensure you have Employer’s Liability Insurance and that you carry out a Right to Work check.

Some people can receive Social Care funding to pay towards their PA, this is called a Direct Payment.

Please let us know when you have found a suitable PA so we can remove your advert from the website and organise the DBS check (usually processed within 48 hours).

How to register if you are a Personal Assistant looking for work

All PAs must complete the accreditation process before applying for adverts on the Noticeboard. You can register as a PA here.

When registering as a PA, remember to include as much information about yourself as possible. Include any paid or unpaid health and social care experience – for example, if you have previously looked after a family member/friend or helped someone in your local community.

It’s also important to explain why you enjoy supporting people and add some personal interests such as hobbies or previous volunteering roles.

You will start by completing a short profile, which will be seen by employers. You will then need to complete the accreditation form, which will only be seen by the PA Noticeboard team. You will be required to upload some documents on the accreditation form.

This PA checklist shows what documents are required.

Once the accreditation form is complete we will send you a welcome email with some supporting information and set you up with some free, basic online training. Additional free training can be accessed upon request.

This process shows you the steps you will take to become accredited on the PA Noticeboard.

You will be accredited when training is complete and documents are uploaded, your profile will then be published and you can begin to apply for jobs.

If you are successful applying for a job, the individual that needs supporting will set up a meeting with you. You MUST confirm attendance of the meeting, if you cannot make the time or if another job offer is accepted you MUST inform the individual involved that you can no longer attend the meeting.

You must contact the PA Noticeboard team as soon as a job offer has been made so that a DBS check can be done. Once the DBS check is complete this will be valid for 3 years.

It is vital that PAs update the PA Noticeboard team when certificates expire and when contact details change.
