Self-Employed PA needed – Flexible hours (POSTED 22.05.25)

Hi! I’m a 31-year-old freelance journalist with a big love for live music, comedy, acting, football, and spending time with friends. I have cerebral palsy, I’m a full-time wheelchair user, and I’m registered blind – but I have full mental capacity and live a very active and social life.
I’m looking for a self-employed female PA to support me with a mix of personal care, household tasks, and social activities. The role is varied, rewarding, and ideal for someone who’s friendly, reliable, and up for a bit of fun along the way.

What I need help with:
• Personal care – dressing, washing, showering, toileting, catheter care, hoisting, and administering medication, eye drops, and creams
• Housekeeping – cooking/preparing meals, cleaning, laundry, and some admin support
• Social support – coming with me to events, driving my Motability WAV, and physically driving my powered wheelchair in public (using the remote on the left-hand side). I may take over in tight spaces, but around 90% of the time, you’ll be in control of the chair while walking alongside me.
You’ll need to be:
• Female and self-employed
• Flexible with your availability
• Experienced with manual handling (hoisting/rolling)
• Confident with suprapubic catheter care
• Fluent in English with clear, descriptive communication (to support my sight loss)
• A confident driver with a full, clean UK licence (my vehicle has open insurance)
• Comfortable physically driving my powered wheelchair in public
• Organised, punctual, and detail-oriented
• Someone with a good memory and great time management
• Clean and tidy in both appearance and working style
• Fun, friendly, and with a good sense of humour!
Desirable (but not essential)
• Have experience or knowledge of cerebral palsy and/or blindness
• Enjoy live rock/alternative music, comedy, and football – and are happy to come along to gigs and events
• Are up for the occasional road trip to places like Bristol, Wales, London, Birmingham, Northampton, Brighton, or Eastbourne
• Are open to doing occasional live-in care shifts
